Canadian artist Paul Beliveau explore large scale books spines, from collected to imagined books that focus on history, biography and culture.The artist forms a dialogue and interrelationship through carefully constructing the composition of book spines within his paintings, they contests the concept of time, and the finiteness and infiniteness of culture.The paintings are grouped simplistically and include themes such as music, history, art movements and artists, and pop culture, all named with classical titles and Latin numbers, they are styled minimalist on clean backgrounds and are made up of graphic interlocking of shapes.
Paul Beliveau works and lives in Canada, he has been painting for over 30 years. He has won many awards for his painting such as the Lauréat de Québec in 2006 and – Honneur national, prix d’excellence de l’AAPC, projet réhabilitation de l’avenue Honoré-Mercier in 2005.
And has been involved in many public art projects and his work is in a number of private and public collection around the world.
